Sylvester Ankrah, Wedding DJ Lengerich
I am Sylvester Ankrah, known as DJ Ajazz, based in Lengerich and working as a wedding DJ in Lengerich for celebrations across North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. Born on August 20, 1987, in Accra, Ghana, I developed a deep love for music as a child – inspired by Highlife from Ghana and Hip-Hop. This passion led me to regularly record music from the radio. In the summer of 2000, I moved to Germany and discovered the diversity of other musical genres such as Pop, R'n'B, Soul, and Hip-Hop.
First Steps in Germany
After arriving in Melle, I began to develop my musical skills. I spent a lot of time at the Melle youth center, where I trained with one of the staff members and improved my technical skills. At 16, I visited the Mediahall in Melle for the first time and was fascinated by the atmosphere in the "Black Area." Shortly after, I had the opportunity to perform live – the foundation for my DJ career was laid.
Career Beginnings & First Successes
In the autumn of 2005, I received a resident job at the renowned Mediahall. On New Year's Eve 2006, I performed at the Prime nightclub in Bielefeld – an experience that solidified my position in the club scene and led to further appearances in well-known clubs such as the Pentagon and N8 in Osnabrück. At 17, I performed for the first time at a German-Italian wedding in Melle. Shortly thereafter, I was booked for the silver wedding anniversary of the bride and groom's parents at the Hotel Melle – my first step towards becoming a wedding DJ. Engagements for further anniversary celebrations in Melle, Badbergen, and Minden followed, as well as appearances in clubs such as the Bel-Air Cloppenburg, Flash Quakenbrück, and Empire Diepholz.
23 years of music – 5 years specializing in weddings & events
For over 23 years, I have been behind the decks as a DJ, with around 1,000 performances – club nights, weddings, corporate parties, birthdays, and private events in Germany and abroad. As an open-format DJ with a flair for international music selection, I have played in numerous clubs and discos in and around Osnabrück and organized dance events and parties in Lower Saxony, including regular appearances at the City Fest in Cloppenburg and the Burgmannsfest in Quakenbrück. Since 2020, I have increasingly shifted my focus to weddings and events, and since 2024, I have been working full-time as a wedding and event DJ.
Music Production & Training
In addition to DJing, I have been producing my own music since 2008 and have deepened my craft with an Audio Engineering Diploma. I have been working with FL Studio since 2013, and I also have experience with Logic Pro X, Ableton, and Native Instruments Maschine. At Easter 2015, I recorded my first original track "Stomp Party" at Sir Unico Studio in Melle, followed by other productions such as "Rock Your World" and "Control." In 2021, I released my first EP album "Situation" via Hofa Media, which was pressed on CD and released on Amazon and Apple Music. From 2023 to 2024, I successfully completed an Audio Engineering Diploma at the SAE Institute to qualify as a professional music producer. I have furthered my education in various areas, including music production, artist and band recording, audio restoration, stereo mixing, 5.1 film sound mixing, and 7.1 3D Dolby Atmos. This training has given me the opportunity to refine my artistic skills and offer my clients professional sound at the highest level.

Music genres: I cover a wide range of music genres – from 70s to 2000s classics to R'n'B, Afrobeats, House, and more. I have played at venues including Mediahall, Prime Bielefeld, Studio 9 Bielefeld, Sfera Melle, and Index Schüttorf.

Awards & Own Events
I was awarded second best African DJ in Germany at the African Community Awards 2021 in Frankfurt. In 2022, I was engaged as an ambassador for the African Community Awards to nominate and award other artists, and I served as one of the support DJs for the nominated artists at the Award Night.
In addition, I have organized several of my own event series and have been a resident DJ, including at "Black Friday" at Ramba Zamba, "Black & Live Session" at Soho City (where local rappers could present their work live), "Black Vibes" at Club Maxxim Lohne, at Grand Verace Cloppenburg, and at Mo's Lounge Lingen, as well as "Afrolicious" at Barena Vechta. Until 2024, I was also a resident DJ for eight years at the Cityfest Cloppenburg at Grand Verace. In the summer of 2022, I gained four months of additional international experience as a DJ in Mallorca before consistently pursuing my path toward a full-time career as a wedding and event DJ.
